Full description
The schematic for a bow-lathe accompanies an episode when the boys learn about from a veteran who observed such a lathe used by a traveling craftsman in South Asia. The caption, “Our Bow-Lathe” claims the device for their own. The boys easily acquire knowledge of tools and processes from people who represent diverse walks of life. In this case Indigenous knowledge learned through colonial encounters becomes part of their collection.
